A 30-second commercial can take anywhere from a few hours to a full week to produce, and most of that time never shows up on screen. Here’s a look at what actually happens before your ad ever goes live.

Pre-production is where the ad is really made

By the time a camera rolls, we’ve already locked the concept, scripted the beats, scouted locations, and storyboarded every shot. Rushing this stage is the single biggest reason commercials feel flat — the fix always happens on paper, not on set.

The shoot day: controlled chaos

A typical shoot day involves a director, a camera operator, a gaffer for lighting, someone managing audio, and a producer keeping the whole thing on schedule. For every second that ends up in the final cut, we usually capture two to three minutes of raw footage to choose from.

Lighting makes or breaks the shot

Great lighting is invisible when it’s done right — it just makes your product, your team, or your space look like the best version of itself. We spend as much time adjusting lights as we do adjusting camera angles.

Then comes the real craft: editing

Once we wrap, the footage goes to our editors, who shape hours of raw material into the tight, punchy story your audience actually sees. Color grading, sound design, and pacing all happen here — it’s where a good shoot becomes a great commercial.
